Surfers holding board

Airush Converse Boards Now Available
And Hatteras Island Surf & Sail have them

Hatteras Island Surf & Sail in Waves has the new Airush Converse crossover boards. The 6'2" (say "six-two") model combines a small to medium wave surfboard with light wind kiting, allowing you to travel with only one board for surfing and kiting. The 5'0" (say "five-oh") model is a "dedicated wave rider's dream" according to the Airush web site.

Barton Decker of Hatteras Island Surf & Sail said he hasn't had a chance to give the 6'2" a ride yet because it's better suited for the ocean side of the island. He has been up on the 5'0" soundside and says it's "very sweet." He mentioned that the straps are in-line instead of being at right angles like windsurfers are set up. Barton said this makes it easier to ride waves because you can keep your feet more in the middle like a traditional surfboard. The board's configuration also allows you to use a smaller kite, allowing quicker turns and better maneuverability.
